The Hanging

It's been a long time coming but it's finally done. Made In China is officially hung! Started at 6:30 p.m. and ended at 1:00 a.m. :0 time really flys when you have stuff to do.

Be sure to come and check out the show, by far this is one of the best student exhibition set ups of these trips I've seen so far. A lot of interesting framing, mounting, and images. This is not your average exhibit to say the least.

I'll be posting photos and video of the opening reception later this week in the meantime here are a few images from location during set-up :)

Never to young

You can never be to young nor to old to take up an interest in photography as was proven on a recent trip too Yangshuo, China where we had the opportunity thanks to Olympus to teach a few elementary school children how to use a camera. The children were given the cameras to take home for a weekend to document their everyday lives and surroundings including towns that aren't so easily accessible to travellers due to distance and time to get there. Not only were the children able to learn photography but their photographs will also be featured in our May 2012 gallery exhibit during Toronto's Contact festival! Stay tuned for more info & photo's in the mean while here are a few photos of the children and a sneak peak of one of their photographs ^-^

This is Samuel say Hi!...okay now that you introduced yourselves I'll introduce him ^_^ This is Samuel and he's 7 yrs old (if I remember correctly...) he's also a very humble person always saying thank you! He's a secret Canadian at heart lol Anyways me, Ashley D.,& Amanda M. had the pleasure of working with Samuel during our trip and for that we say Thank You ^_^

This photograph is one of many that Samuel had taken during his free time and will be featured in the upcoming gallery show; however, if this is the final edit of the photo only time will tell and your visit to the gallery! ^_^

The China Experience Pt.2

Part 2 which should really be part 1 since we went to Beijing first...oh well :)
So here's another video this is mainly of our time in Beijing with about 2 clips from Gilian I believe. Wo ai Beijing was our unofficial theme song for the trip played it every chance I got needless to say people probably got annoyed "sorry" lol  ^_^

p.s I just realized the quality really goes down even more so when I upload straight to blogger. I should probably start using my Youtube account again

The China Experience Pt.1

Started making a series of videos last night using various footage I captured during a recent trip to China, sorry for the poor quality was using different cameras throughout and didn't have a hdslr on me :( Think I'll purchase a D7000 or something in the future for use purely for video. I find video with travel is a good thing helps with explaining to family and friends the experience of a trip and the dynamic. I actually didn't realize I had so much footage until last night with clips still on my phones I think I rounded maybe 2hrs of clips here and there needless to say I'm going to need to clear my laptop soon.

Presenting part one of unknown amounts:

Ni Hao, Canada I've Returned ^_^

I have returned!! From where you might ask? China of course! Forgot to post about that didn't I? Mah bad (story about "mah bad" later)
So why in gods name was I in China? Remember how I went to France last year with my college? Pretty much the same thing but with all 2nd years so like a grad trip and with Professor Fox (ryan our chinese/british accent Shakespeare loving tour guide dubbed him, we just call him neil lol)
So yeah we were down there for 18days from May 4th-21st and it was 18days of greatness and a place I will surely travel too again on my own time minus tour guides so I can shoot on my own pace :)
Lot's to tell, so much seen I don't even know where to start. One major thing was we slept on the Great Wall of China and when I say sleep I don't mean on the bottom in one of the camping sites I mean legit climbed up and slept on those rocks waiting for sunrise and yes we peed on the great wall how many ppl can say that? XP There was also Kayaking, Biking, Rock Climbing, Boat Cruises, Monkey Brains in soup, rain rain and more rain, heat heat and more heat, perverted old men, and lots more. Stories of the trip will slowly come out along with corresponding pictures to help tell the story more in the mean time here some snaps to pass the time .Peace!!

P.s Steven Smith I am obsessed with you.....
P.s.s In 2012 me and the 21 other photographers I traveled with will be holding a gallery showing in May during Torontos Contact Photography Festival, look foreword to it!

Me and Ashley after waking up on the great wall

This guy started writing on some of our arms,
some said soemthing along the lines of
"I have a boyfriend, dont kiss me"
and
"I want a rich husband"
lol needless to say those that had it got stopped a lot lol

We went to a school in Yongsho to teach middle school children to use Olympus cameras.
This is Samuel; me, ashley, and amanda were working with. He was so cute and shy!

In our 2012 gallery showing photos that the children took will also be on display ^_^

Dave!! Ni Haaaaaao =P

Alana & Chantal

It's funny but in China we all got stopped at least 10 times a day to have our picture taken with locals took some time to get used to too say the least lol

My day to take group picture on the 2nd last day in Shanghai

and lastly a photography I took while we were in Guilin (I think)? Glad I woke up early and decided to go out, as you can tell it was pretty foggy.
