The Foot on my Neck

The man has his foot on my neck!! - The now daily saying in the office T_T

Searching through one of my hard drives last night and stumbled across a old session I did a while back, I was looking for another session though T_T

I've been pretty busy as of late Humber's Orientation week is coming up (next week) yeaaaah 6am start time!! T_T  We left the office @ 12:30 AM last Friday night (sorry had to katy perry that line) lol Can't wait for it to get started and for all the construction to be done and this potential strike stuff to end, way too much work to get completed.

I shall be back with more updates/pictures as soon as the last batch of students enter those doors on september 6th. Hopefully....

Working Through It

Crazy storm happening here in Toronto at the moment rain, lighting, thunder blah enough to wake me from my nap. Can we say summer is officially here? Pretty sure it wasn't even this hot in China dam it Canada your cold in the winter and boiling in the summer is there no in between? T_T

Anyways been a busy week worked my last few shifts at humber over the weekend which had me sleeping at rez while photographing/filming the first ever Smart Serve Leadership Development event which was pretty awesome, met a lot of cool people and some friends I haven't seen in awhile and also made some memories I'll never forgot one including a not so present roommate.....crazy rommie check my college life is now complete. ^_^

Did a small shoot on Tuesday here are a few images that im currently editing. Since I'm no longer @ Humber I'm now without studio, lights, and large access amount of gear; however, that's not going to stop me from shooting can always rent studios or lights for my commercial shots and use natural light and reflectors for food shoots which I already do, so I'm not worried at all as long as ideas keep coming through alls good. Just bought a new lens as well the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 never really used a 50 till this week to be honest used to using a 85mm, 20mm and others. Food shots coming up were all taken with the 50mm, think next purchase (once i pay off osap and bills...so 5 years? T_T) will be the 105mm and 85mm.

Still got a ways to go in terms of styling/shooting the more I look at these images the more they piss me off....not in a bad way in terms of little mistakes and lessons to learn...if that makes sense... the top one is earlier on in the day so there is a difference in light. Both images need to be cleaned up more before I decide which I prefer. First time cooking/touching clams btw dropped one under my oven thats gonna smell in a bit T_T. Btw T_T = a crying face ^_^
Like my new background? went to home depot and bought some wood walked out with them in my duffle bag like a boss lol. Used some old paint I had laying around for like 10 years, which probably wasn't the best thing to open in my bedroom at like 1 am....

P.s brushing on the no equipment not the end of the world thing I took this photo a couple months ago using one Sb-900 and some pieces of white paper as fill in my living room on my kitchen table pretty decent don't you think? Mind you I didn't shot the splashes they are low rez stock images I was using as reference on how I was planning on developing my concept. So yeah you don't have a studio paint a wall, steam a bed sheet, go outside use the god given light source and diffuse it but most of all don't bitch do it, if it's your passion little things like this wont stop you right? Random babble oveeerrr! ^_^

The End.

You haven't been abandoned

Been extremly busy as of late as we speak I'm heading over to Twist for the opening reception of Anthology a group fine art exhibit featuring me and 75 of my classmates. I'm running late though I was shooting in the studio some commercial work for my portfolio and last track of time as usual :) Check out some pics b4 of behind the scenes stuff as i set up and etc. I must say sometimes i have the crazy/busiest sits compared to others which I took pics of my last sets.

P.s that jumbo tripod with the plexi box was taken from the portrait studio and apprently that is not allowed...tell me that before i drag it to the basement!! Getting that up a ramp with heeled shoes not easy lol

P.p.s like my dumbbell on the back of my tripod? Gotta do what u got to do to grab those angles!lol

Zoom?

Assignment for Commercial class shoot a toy car in studio then photoshop it into a background of your choosing. Clearly I haven't done the second part yet but I enjoy showing my process with this stuff. Still need to do post production on the car it self: colour, dust, perspective etc.

Really should've had some black cards cut out to fit the car form probably. Live & Learn

Used a Mamiya camera for this assignment get better focus with them then using the Hassablads we have.

The Night

Currently sitting in McDz sipping apple juice and editing pictures at 8am. Why? Remember that interview I told you I had today? Guess who was a overly excited and showed up at 8am when she was supposed to be there at 10? ME! lol at least I know where it is now better early then late as they say.

So shoot some food/commercial stuff last night which was interesting my food styling skills are all over the map went in with one idea came out with something completely different; while cleaning up and started shooting all over again XP

Here's some samples of the night still working on the post production.

*The shot of the Asahi was very random to say the least found it in my room from a pervious shoot and figured why not? Still deciding how I want to edit it =S*

Sick, exams, and tons of images.

The Toronto weather has caught up to me and pretty quickly this year. I find my self stealing my younger brothers sweaters just to keep warm; my nose burns so much I want summer back :( Coming to the end of semester 3 here at Humber almost time for Christmas 16days! which means I can sleep and no more assignments! I'll finally have time to kick back sleep till 4pm and work on personal projects. Speaking of Humber and assignments here's one of the lastests ones recently edited for my commercial photography class of an electronic.

Long Beautiful Beeeeeer!(hair)

So the title really has nothing to do with this shoot except that I replaced hair with beer....honestly its just been one of those days where nothing goes right and you want to jump of a cliff and just sleep for eternity.....but I'm not going to do that I'll try my shoot again tomorrow when I haven't been running on 4hrs of sleep a granola bar and didn't just spend the past 4 hrs setting up a pow wow at school.....yup hyst one of those days.

So this was from a shoot I did last Wednesday in studio. This is edit #1. This isn't the original idea I had planned shit happens and restrictions are applied :( but I'm still pleased with the outcome so far.

Let's be a copy cat shall we?

Okay so this is an assignment we recived in my program at Humber College to recreate an AD of our choosing back in first year semester 1. I just remembered it since that's the current project the first years are working on now. But why the heck did I have to choose one of the toughest ad's out there? I'm clearly not a food stylist nor do I know one as of yet. So that was a lot of wasted tomatoes and multiple studio time and just ended up with me shooting it at home with available light lol. P.s the logo wasn't the same since it was their 100th anniversary that should have been a sign right there.....

First one is the original from the agency McCann Erickson, London. And the bottom one the right is mine :)
(even more off then I remembered =P)

Drink up

A commercial shoot I did last year. First time using a Hassablad that was a barrel of fun, my Macbook loved Phocus.......let's just say I'm glad I upgraded my computer this year since all my commercial work is done with a Hassie.
